Course Information
Overview
Candidates can choose between AITT or RTITB forklift instructor courses, both designed to meet the standards set by the respective accrediting bodies.
These courses are intended for seasoned operators looking to become instructors or for former instructors seeking to return after a break.
To pass either course, candidates must successfully complete an examination that assesses their basic operating skills, relevant knowledge, and practical instructional capabilities.
AITT or RTITB?
Both AITT and RTITB are members of ABA and are nationally recognised accrediting bodies. The choice between them is entirely up to you and your specific needs.

How long will it take?
Both the AITT and RTITB instructor courses take 10 days to complete, scheduled over two consecutive weeks from Monday to Friday.
Course Location:
The course is held at our dedicated forklift truck training centre located in Bromborough, Wirral, CH62 3NX.
What qualification do I receive?
Upon successful completion, you will receive either an AITT or RTITB Instructor Certificate, depending on the course you choose. Both certificates are valid for five years, after which you will need to complete an instructor re-registration course to maintain your certification.
What are the entry requirements?
To enroll in either the AITT or RTITB courses, all candidates must meet the following entry requirements:
- Candidates must provide documentary evidence of having completed a Counterbalance course in Basic Operating Skills within 36 months of the course start date. This course must have been conducted by a currently registered AITT, ITSSAR, LANTRA, NPORS, or RTITB instructor.
- Candidates should have a minimum of six months of regular operating experience, with twelve months being ideal.

*For the RTITB Instructor Course, proof of successful completion of the full eTruck eLearning course within 36 months of the course start date is also required. TL Training will provide you with login details for this.
