Overview
Candidates can choose between AITT or RTITB Forklift Trainer Conversion courses, each designed to meet the respective accrediting body’s standards.
These courses are designed for currently accredited forklift instructors who wish to add either AITT or RTITB certification to their qualifications.
To pass either course, candidates must successfully complete an examination that assesses their basic operating skills, relevant knowledge, and practical instructional capabilities.
AITT or RTITB?
Both AITT and RTITB are members of ABA and are nationally recognised accrediting bodies. The choice between them is entirely up to you and your specific needs.

How long will it take?
Both the AITT and RTITB instructor conversion courses take 5 days to complete, scheduled over a single week from Monday to Friday.
Course Location:
The course is held at our dedicated forklift truck training centre located in Bromborough, Wirral, CH62 3NX.
What qualification do I receive?
Upon successful completion, you will receive either an AITT or RTITB Instructor Certificate, depending on the course you choose. Both certificates are valid for five years, after which you will need to complete an instructor re-registration course to maintain your certification.
What are the entry requirements?
AITT Instructor Conversion Course Requirements:
To attend the AITT Instructor Conversion Course, you must have:
- MHE/Lift Truck Instructor Qualification: A current or expired (within the last 24 months) MHE/Lift Truck Instructor qualification from an ABA member.
RTITB Instructor Conversion Course Requirements:
RTITB has recently expanded its entry criteria. Candidates are now eligible to enroll in the RTITB Instructor Conversion Course if they meet one of the following:
Teaching Qualification: A valid teaching qualification (PTTLS, AET, CTTLS, CET, DTTLS, or DET) issued within the last five years, along with a Certificate of Basic Operating Skills for the relevant equipment, issued within the last 36 months by an ABA-registered instructor.
RTITB/NRI LGV or Driver CPC Qualification: A current RTITB/NRI LGV or Driver CPC Instructor qualification, plus a Certificate of Basic Operating Skills for the relevant equipment, issued within the last 36 months by an ABA-registered instructor.
MHE/Lift Truck Instructor Qualification: A current or expired (within the last 24 months) MHE/Lift Truck Instructor qualification from an ABA member.
Other Instructor Qualifications: An instructor qualification from Military, Fire Service, IPAF, CITB, Construction Skills, CPCS, ALLMI, LEEA, or PASMA, issued within the last five years, along with a Certificate of Basic Operating Skills for the relevant equipment, issued within the last 36 months by an ABA-registered instructor.
