More than a quarter of accidents, reported annually to the relevant enforcing authorities, are associated with transporting or supporting of loads by hand. Injuries commonly linked with manual handling include sprains, strains, damage to back and hernias.
Employers have a duty of care to ensure that manual handling hazards are identified, their risks assessed and that appropriate steps are taken to control these risks. This course will demonstrate that the employer has met their duty of care, and has equipped their employees with the knowledge and skills required to perform manual lifting, as well as handling operations competently and safely.
The course is designed to assist candidates in identifying situations for which manual handling techniques are absolutely necessary, and is suitable for all employees who may be involved in manual handling as part of their duties.
