By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
Identify confined spaces and understand their hazards
Recognise common risks such as oxygen deficiency and toxic atmospheres
Understand entry and exit procedures and safe work systems
Know how to use PPE and atmospheric monitoring equipment correctly
Follow emergency procedures and understand rescue planning
Comply with UK regulations including the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997
The course covers:
Definition and characteristics of confined spaces
Legal duties and the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997
Hazard identification and risk assessment
Entry, exit, and permit-to-work procedures
Atmospheric testing and monitoring
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and respiratory protection
Emergency planning and rescue arrangements
Case studies and real-life examples
To ensure the course runs safely and effectively, all delegates should:
Be aged 16 or over
Have a good understanding of spoken and written English
Be physically capable of taking part in any demonstrations or light practical activities
No prior experience or formal qualifications are required — all courses start with the fundamentals and build knowledge step by step.
Each course is limited to a maximum of 6 delegates per session to ensure a safe, effective learning environment and plenty of one-to-one support from the instructor.
We recommend a minimum of 3–4 delegates per session to encourage meaningful group discussion and shared learning experiences.

Reasonable adjustments: We can provide adjustments (e.g., extra time, rest breaks, adapted assessment methods) in line with awarding-body rules—without compromising safety or competence.
