Who is the course for?

It is recommended that there is one appointed person for every fifty employees (Two would ensure cover in case of absence) working in a low risk environment. This course is especially suited for nominated appointed persons within a business.

What will be covered?

A risk assessment of your first aid needs will identify any requirements for staff trained in emergency first aid; this could be in addition to your qualified first aiders or recognise an appointed person as being sufficient.

Learners will develop the skills and confidence to help someone who is:

  • unresponsive and not breathing, including how to use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • unresponsive and breathing
  • having a seizure
  • choking
  • bleeding heavily
  • suffering from shock
  • burnt

The course also includes information on:

  • assessing a casualty
  • monitoring a casualty
  • where to get help
  • electrical incidents
  • accident recording and reporting
  • the control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH)

This course also provides you with the comprehensive set of practical skills needed to become a confident first aider at work, giving you both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies effectively.
