3 Day First Aid at Work

In addition to the topics covered on an emergency first aid at work course, this course covers treatment for a variety of injuries and medical conditions.

Delegates will develop the first aid skills and confidence to help someone who:

  • is unresponsive and breathing, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • is choking
  • is bleeding
  • is suffering from shock
  • has burns
  • feels faint
  • has been poisoned
  • has a head injury
  • has hypothermia or heat exhaustion
  • has an injury to a bone, muscle or joint (including spinal injuries)

Learners will also be able to help a casualty who is having a:

  • seizure
  • heart attack, including the administration of aspirin
  • angina attack
  • stroke
  • asthma attack
  • severe allergic reaction
  • diabetic emergency

The course also includes information on:

  • assessing a casualty
  • monitoring a casualty
  • where to get help
  • electrical incidents
  • accident recording and reporting
  • the control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH)

Who is the course for?

The award in first aid at work is a qualification aimed at those who wish to become a first aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

What will be covered?

This comprehensive 3 day course will provide the learner a qualification to the highest level of first aid that meets Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 standards.

It is recommended that there is one first aider for every fifty employees in a medium to high risk workplace.

Persons gaining this qualification will learn that first aid is the responsibility of everyone involved in the working environment.
