Overview

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a globally recognised training program designed to empower individuals with the skills to identify signs of mental ill health and offer immediate assistance on a first aid basis. This course breaks down mental health stigma by fostering empathy and promoting a proactive approach to well-being. Participants gain the ability to provide valuable support to those experiencing mental health challenges, contributing to a compassionate and inclusive community that promotes awareness and resilience. MHFA is a crucial tool for building a supportive environment and encouraging individuals to seek help comfortably.

How much does it cost?

£354.00 including VAT per person

What qualification do I receive?

Upon course completion, candidates who succeed will receive a MHFA England accreditation certificate. This certificate remains valid for three years.

How long will it take?

It takes about 15 hours, over 2 consecutive days.

Who is this course for?

The MHFA course is designed to train individuals in recognising mental health signs and offering initial assistance, especially for those aspiring to become Mental Health First Aiders in the workplace.

Please note that the course covers sensitive topics, including suicide and self-harm, which may be distressing. Participants can leave the course at any time if they feel overwhelmed. Before booking someone onto the course, ensure they are comfortable with potentially distressing content. What is covered?

This course trains Mental Health First Aiders to recognise and assist with mental health issues in four sessions:

  1. Introduction to mental health, addressing stigma, and identifying depression at work.
  2. Covering suicide, substance use, crisis management, and enhancing listening skills.
  3. Discussion on anxiety, cognitive issues, personality disorders, and self-harm.
  4. Exploring psychosis, risk factors, disorders like schizophrenia, and crisis intervention.

Completing the course earns you a reference manual, support workbook, and Mental Health First Aider certificate.
