Category C1
The C1 license allows holders to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes, with a trailer up to 750kg. If you own a horsebox, are a delivery driver for a supermarket, work in the removals industry or are training to be a paramedic then you will be required to have a Category C1 license.
In order to begin your training, you must be at least 18 years of age and already hold a full Category B driving license (car license).
Anyone who passed their driving test prior to January 1997 will have acquired rights, which means that they are already entitled to drive Category C1 vehicles. Anyone who passed their test after this date will need to complete the training in order to obtain their license.
If you do not hold any license other than your Category B license, you will be required to pass an LGV medical test. This can be carried out by your GP. The next step is to send your application to the DVLA for your C1 license. You must then pass your LGV theory test. Once these stages are completed you will be able to attend our Category C1 Training course in Chester.
The course content will provide you will the knowledge and skills required to drive a large vehicle safely and efficiently, whilst keeping yourself and others out of harm. Throughout the training, we will help to improve your general driving skills and make sure that they are up to the DVSA standard. You will learn how to safely reverse and carry out other manoeuvres which may be required throughout your role as an LGV driver.
