Awareness training explains these principles but does not qualify a delegate to enter or work in a confined space. Anyone expected to make an entry needs practical, risk-specific training appropriate to the level of hazard, equipment and rescue arrangements involved.
This distinction is important. Employees who only need to identify and report a confined space should not assume that an awareness certificate makes them competent to use breathing apparatus, gas monitors, harnesses or rescue equipment.
