It is a legal requirement for all PCV and LGV drivers to gain a CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) so that they can ensure their work is carried out safely and efficiently at all times. Thus leading to a decrease in the amount of traffic accidents involving professional drivers. You can be fined up to £1,000 for driving professionally without driver CPC.
As well as gaining the CPC qualification, they must also carry 35 of JAUPT training every 5 years. This enables drivers to obtain their Driver Qualification Card (DQC). It is an offence to drive a Vehicle without holding a DQC.
