When standard first aid training does not match the risks your team faces, First Response Emergency Care Level 3 gives them the clinical skills, structured assessment frameworks, and practical confidence to manage serious emergencies until advanced medical support arrives.
This five-day Qualsafe qualification goes well beyond workplace first aid, preparing your responders for the trauma and medical situations that can occur in higher risk environments.
At TL Training, we deliver FREC 3 training at our dedicated centre in Ellesmere Port and on-site at workplaces across the UK. Our instructors bring genuine pre-hospital experience to every session, which means your team learns from people who have managed real emergencies rather than simply teaching from course materials.
Who First Response Emergency Care (FREC) Level 3 Is Designed For
This qualification sits above standard first aid courses and is built for people who have a genuine responsibility to provide first response care in demanding settings. If your staff are likely to be first on scene at serious incidents, or if they work in environments where ambulance response times may be extended, FREC 3 gives them the capability to bridge that gap safely and effectively.
We regularly train delegates from emergency and ambulance support services, event medical teams, security and close protection roles, search and rescue organisations, and staff working across construction, energy, utilities, and other sectors where the risk profile demands more than basic first aid provision.
The qualification aligns with the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care PHEM skills framework at Level D and meets HSE requirements for First Aid at Work, supporting both regulatory compliance and operational first response needs in a single programme.

First Response Emergency Care Level 3 Course Options
We offer two routes to the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care, depending on whether your delegates are new to pre-hospital care or already hold relevant qualifications.
Full FREC 3 Course Over Five Days
The full First Response Emergency Care (FREC) Level 3 course runs over five consecutive days and covers everything from scene assessment and primary surveys through to trauma management, medical emergencies, and emergency oxygen administration. Delegates work through realistic scenarios using professional training equipment, building the practical skills and clinical judgement needed to manage casualties effectively under pressure. Assessment includes both theory papers and practical competency checks, with certification valid for three years on successful completion.
FREC 3 RPL for Experienced Responders
If your delegates already hold a recognised first responder qualification such as FPOS, or have credible prior experience in pre-hospital care, the FREC 3 RPL course allows them to convert that existing knowledge into the full Qualsafe FREC 3 qualification in just two days. This route includes guided revision, scenario work, and formal assessment, validating prior learning while addressing any gaps. It offers a practical option for organisations that need to standardise qualifications across a team without putting experienced responders through the full five-day programme.

Why Choose TL Training for a FREC 3 Training Course
The quality of First Response Emergency Care training depends significantly on who delivers it, because this content cannot be taught effectively from slides alone.
Our FREC instructors include Community First Responders with over a decade of frontline experience with North West Ambulance Service, ex-military trainers who have managed serious trauma in high-pressure environments, and learning and development professionals who know how to make complex clinical content accessible and memorable.
We deliver from our training centre at The Technology Centre in Ellesmere Port, just off Junction 8 of the M53, with modern facilities, realistic equipment, and free parking. If you prefer to train your team on your own premises, we can bring the course to you anywhere in the UK, tailoring scenarios to reflect the specific risks your staff are most likely to encounter. We also deliver FREC 3 training in Liverpool and across Cheshire for organisations in those areas.
As an approved Qualsafe centre, we deliver qualifications that are nationally recognised and regulated on the RQF framework. Your delegates receive secure e-certificates that are straightforward to verify, and you gain assurance that the training meets an agreed standard that employers and regulators will accept.
