Getting your operators onto a MEWP safely and legally comes down to training that IPAF recognises, and that is what we deliver. We run operator courses for mobile vertical and mobile boom platforms, either at our own centre or on your site anywhere in the UK.
Most people who come to us are working to a deadline, whether that is a site induction next week, a contract requiring PAL cards on file, or somebody hired in whose card has quietly expired. We can usually find you a date quickly, and several of our IPAF training courses carry live dates you can book straight from the website.
Training that exists only to satisfy an auditor tends to show up later as damaged machines and near misses, so we run ours to make people genuinely competent in a basket. What separates a course that ticks a box from one that changes how your operators work at height comes down to instruction and machine time, and both of those are things we control.

What an IPAF Approved Training Provider Gives You
Every operator who passes with us receives a PAL Card, the Powered Access Licence issued by IPAF and recognised on sites across the UK and internationally. It runs for five years and names the specific categories your operator has been assessed on, which is the line principal contractors check at the gate.
Our approval means our instructors, our machines and our assessment process are audited against IPAF standards rather than our own. You end up with paperwork that holds up in a tender, an insurance conversation or an HSE visit, and with operators who have been trained on the equipment they will actually be using.

Choosing the Right IPAF Category for Your Operators
IPAF categories attach to the machine rather than to the person, so a PAL Card only covers what its holder was assessed on. Most teams need one or both of the mobile categories, and booking the combined 3a and 3b operator course works out quicker and cheaper than arranging two separate days. If you have never put anybody through before, knowing how a course actually runs makes the planning easier.
IPAF 3a Mobile Vertical Training for Scissor Lifts
Mobile Vertical 3a covers scissor lifts and similar platforms that can travel while elevated but only raise straight up. Warehousing, retail fit-out and building maintenance teams lean on these machines heavily, and your operators cover machine selection, pre-use inspection, stability and rescue procedures before being assessed practically.
IPAF 3b Mobile Boom Training for Cherry Pickers
Mobile Boom 3b covers cherry pickers and articulated booms, where the platform swings outward as well as upward. That extra reach brings genuine additional risk around overturning and entrapment, so the training goes deeper into positioning, ground conditions and harness use.

Why Choose TL Training as Your IPAF Approved Training Provider
We have spent years delivering accredited safety and plant training across first aid, forklift, working at height and IOSH, so powered access sits inside a wider offer rather than being a sideline for us:
- Courses at our Bromborough training centre, or delivered on your own site anywhere in the UK.
- Live dates you can book directly online, with group bookings arranged around your shift patterns.
- IPAF certified instructors with hands-on industry backgrounds rather than classroom-only trainers.
- Small groups, so every operator gets real time in the machine, which is where the learning that sticks actually happens.
- One provider covering your MEWP, forklift, height and first aid requirements, which keeps your training records in one place.

Book Your IPAF Training with An Accredited Provider Today
Whether you need a single operator carded before Monday or a full team put through across a fortnight, we will build the schedule around your work rather than the other way round. Several courses carry live dates on the website, so you can check availability and book without waiting on a quote.
If your requirement is less straightforward, or you would rather we brought the training to your site, get in touch with the numbers and dates you have in mind and we will confirm what we can do. You can also call 0151 343 0588 if you would sooner talk it through first.
